Confused?

A weekly devotional by Reverend Dr. Kevin Schwamb

Have you ever struggled with making an important decision or wondered if something is your will or God’s will? Then the book of Proverbs may be just what you need. First, the author and compiler of its contents is King Solomon, a man whose wisdom remains unparalleled. (Yet towards the end of his life he failed to apply God’s word to his own life.) Second, the theme of Proverbs is how to attain wisdom which can be defined as the ability to regulate one’s relationship with God. True wisdom, as Proverbs tells us, begins with a fear and reverence of God. Finally, Proverbs chs.1-9 is aimed at giving counsel to the young who often are at points of transition in their life and making life changing decisions.

Now you won’t find in Proverbs specific directions like, “Move to this state..” or “Go to this school…or take this job” but you will find something much better, timeless biblical principles that will lead you to discover God’s will, one step at a time. Take God at His word when He says, “In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.”
