A devotional by Reverend Dr. Kevin Schwamb
In a world where people often only think of themselves, it is only natural to ask the question, “Who cares?” A sense of entitlement and apathy is reflected in the lifestyles of many today as they live their lives looking out for number one.
But, as followers of Christ, we have a definite answer to give those who are wondering if anyone genuinely cares about them and the struggles they are going through. We know that God has demonstrated His love towards us by sending Jesus Christ to pay the penalty for our sins. When we acknowledge Him as our personal Lord and Savior we become His sons and daughters. This is why we are reminded in 1 Peter 5:7 to “Cast your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” The verb cast means to throw completely off and to place your trust in that which is unmovable.
Let’s remember this week, that as disciples of Christ, we have a life changing response to the age old question, “Who cares?” Therefore, let us live a life that reflects our dependency upon God and shows those around us that we care about them because God cares about them!
