What Time Is It?

A devotional by Reverend Dr. Kevin Schwamb

Next month, Apple Inc. anticipates the release of its new high-end smart watch, a device which is meant to be seen and not covered up. Consumers will be able to customize their smartwatch but, will pay dearly for that privilege. Although, the exact price for the top of the line model has yet to be released, it is estimated that it will be at least $10,000.

One of our greatest problems today is not that we don’t know what time it is, but that we have difficulty managing our time. During one of his imprisonments, the apostle Paul wrote to the believers in Ephesus instructing them to “Be very careful then, how you live – not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.” To make the most of every opportunity literally means to redeem or buy back. As disciples of Christ we know that every moment is a precious gift from God. Therefore, our time is to be used wisely. Each day we are to be actively investing in building the kingdom of God for the glory of Jesus Christ.

An Apple smartwatch might be nice, but what we each need is to redeem the time! As you go about the rest of the week, consider how you are using your time and energy. Make it a priority to look for opportunities to tell others how you have been purchased at the cross by the Savior.
