A devotional by Reverend Dr. Kevin Schwamb
Most college students are accustomed to either answering the question, “What is your Major?” or explaining why they can’t give you an answer quite yet. A recent report from Georgetown University’s Center on Education, showed that your college major and degree greatly affects how much money you will earn over the course of a lifetime. For example biology majors will earn almost one-third less than physic majors.
Surprisingly, Jesus talked about the importance of declaring your major when He sat down on a hillside and began to teach His disciples. After referencing all of the distractions in life (food, clothing, personal security) Jesus declared, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” When we major on the most important relationship in life first, the rest will fall into place.
Getting a college education today greatly affects one’s ability to earning a good living. But, of greater value is knowing and declaring that as a Christian our life is all about seeking first His kingdom and His glory! Declare your major this week!
