A devotional by Reverend Dr. Kevin Schwamb
While driving to an appointment last week, I couldn’t help but notice a truck stopped in front of me. What caught my attention was the graphic design splashed across the back of it with the words “Cover the World.” Although the advertisement was promoting Sherwin Williams paint, I couldn’t help but think that slogan really belongs to the Church.
Immediately before his ascension into heaven, Jesus said to His disciples, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all of Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” These words contain two important instructions that are relevant to every Christian and local church. We are to cover the world with the good news of salvation and we have been given everything needed to fulfill that task through the Holy Spirit.
As you go through the rest of your week, pray for boldness to make the most of every opportunity and conversation before you. Remember, Sherwin Williams isn’t the only one trying to cover the world.
