A devotional by Reverend Dr. Kevin Schwamb
Michelle Miller is an avid Pittsburgh Penguin fan whose presence does not go unnoticed at their NHL games. She can typically be seen sitting down near the ice, with her husband at her side, and wearing a Penguins jersey. But what really catches people’s attention is that Michele is always knitting while cheering on her team. This has earned her the nickname the “Knitting Lady” by her adoring fans. Last week, during a tense playoff game, a picture of Michelle knitting away went viral and a negative comment was posted on Twitter. Within a short time, not only did hockey fans come to her defense but, the official Penguins team account Tweeted, “We support you.”
Scripture tells us that a woman who loves God will stand out in a crowd. In Proverbs 31:30 we read, “Charm is deceitful, and beauty is fleeting but a woman who loves the LORD is to be praised.” Mother’s Day is the perfect opportunity for us to thank God for the godly women and mothers He has brought into our lives. It is also a reminder to pray that He would raise up more women who are spiritually passionate about God and worthy to be praised. This Sunday honor your mother, and God, by telling her how she has blessed your life!
